My first marathon (2:55:54)
Sunday I started in Frankfurt on my first marathon. I already traveled Saturday with the ICE train to Frankfurt, because I had not previously reported and therefore I still had to nachmelden at the marathon expo. The largest part of the day I spent at the hotel for me to rest as possible. In the evening I ran about a bit and felt pretty good to have legs. Came the next morning my parents, I then pick up at the hotel. Oddly enough was now so close to the start absolutely no excitement anymore. I had my Saturday even made a little thought to how it would all run so well, I was now in a very quiet spot. A bit of shrink up to the start, but just do not make too much, the course should still be long enough. Then it was over 12,000 other runners at the starting line together. I sorted fairly far forward with one, so I do not much of mitbekam scramble behind me. And then it was also going on already. The 1.km was then 3:46 with a little fast, but after that I swung my super one at a 4:00 he cut. Well, little bit faster but some wars, but I ran into a good group and I felt good. From km 15, I began to ask me then so slowly, because where were my parents, who actually wanted to go along with the wheel at the track to cheer me and my food to enrich. Unfortunately, too many spectators on the road and blocked many roads, so they do not got through. So I waited in vain for the gel, which would have been so busy at km 21 but quite happy. It went quite well and yet continue to km 28 I could keep the 4 cuts loose. Then it started slowly to be hard. Now my thoughts were only for the longed Kohlenhydratgel. At km 30 I could finally see my father, the hustle and rummaged in his pocket and gave me a gel anreichte. Finally! Unfortunately, my legs were now all right and I realized I could not keep the pace. I tried against the gravity in the legs to fight, but I noticed as I was getting slower. Also my clock was my feeling because unfortunately right. From km 35 it became a struggle. I was just trying somehow to stay at a 5-section in order to achieve my goal to stay under 3 hours. Except for the kilometer 40 I managed that, too. The last two miles I was even able to accelerate again something if you can speak to accelerate at this rate at all of. Mitlerweile I had to at every step to "avoid spasm" eighth. Running technique could not be called anymore. Fully finished but somehow I reached the goal. I was just happy that I do with my time of 2:55:54, well below the 3 hour mark managed and have not had to walk between them. With a more intense preparation (I had now only 4 weeks) and a better organization of Verpfelgung is the next marathon certainly something more to it.
Now it's first a little rest and then start again with a bit of the swim training that I have neglected the last few weeks, criminal, before heading to Australia in early December. But for that I am writing again in the next few days what a bit more detail.
